Paul Edmondson

I'm one of the three co-founders of HubPages.

I graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1998 with a degree in Management Information Systems. My career started as an intern with Hewlett Packard in 1997. I worked on developing large scale multi dimensional database applications.

I changed jobs to MongoMusic in 1999. I was one of the first employees and this is where I got my first startup experience. We grew to over 60 employees in a year and as the tech bubble was popping, we were acquired by Microsoft to form MSN Music. At Microsoft, I had many management roles including stints in business management, test, operations, and product management.

It was at MongoMusic where I began learning about search engine optimization and I continued to be passionate about search engines through my career at Microsoft. I built several hobby sites. Learned many things about SEO with practical hands on experience while I also read several books and industry forums. I was acutely aware of the trend of webmasters building AdSense supported sites.

I launched a local Search Engine Optimization Service in 2005 that helped small businesses gain search engine visibility via paid and organic listings. This services evolved into the idea for HubPages.

I am a frequent speaker at industry events where I talk about search engine optimization, revenue optimization, and building startups. Recently I spoke at SXSW, PubCon and AdTech.

I played nearly three years of college basketball. I've coached at numberous camps and have coached two seasons of elementary school level basketball.

I'm a barbecue enthusiast where I dabble in competitive barbecue. Recently I took home the title of best burger on Drake. I'm planning on competing in a baby back rib competition this summer. Friends and family consider my pork tenderloin to be my specialty.
